Food Preparation & Culinary Arts

Do you already have the knowledge of the basic principles of kitchen work?  Can you demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm to work and study to further your career as a qualified Chef?  This qualification covers Safety at Work, Healthy Eating, Special Diets, Costing, Menu Planning, and the Preparation, Cooking and Finishing of a wide range of commodities and dishes.

Duration

A maximum of 1 year is allowed to complete this programme, with an approximate expected duration of 540 hours for Home Study.  If you opt for the City & Guilds Qualification, a minimum of 270 hours for Industry Practicals are also expected.

Online Studies

The studies you will complete from your own home, via our Learner Management System. Our Key Benefits will ensure you stay motivated whilst studying with International Culinary Studio.  Once registered, your Student Experience will be accessible and your learning material available on any pc, portable or mobile smart device (Technology Programme Requirements). Our Chef Instructors will be available and will guide you through your programme to successful course completion.  All assignments will be assessed by our qualified Assessors.

On completion of this Food Preparation & Culinary Arts programme, you could gain employment as a Chef de Partie.  You could then also further your studies with International Culinary Studio in either Baking/Patisserie or Food Preparation & Cookery Supervision

City & Guilds Diploma in Food Preparation and Cooking (Culinary Arts) (8065-02)

Minimum Enrolment Requirements

  • Must be 16 years or older, with a minimum of 8 years schooling.
  • Must have successfully completed Food Preparation & Culinary Arts L3 or complete a *Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Assessment.
  • If English is not your first language, you will be required to provide evidence of your English Language skills. This is an IELTS result of a General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.  For more information please visit ielts.org

  • Ingredients used for practicing all recipes at home or at the workplace.
  • Chef Uniform and Safety Shoes for practical’s.
  • Costs to purchase any technology and/or kitchen equipment that you may not have, but need to use in the programme. (see included lists of requirements)

  • Any printing you choose to do from the Study Guides.
